A Bowman is the ranged class in MapleStory. They use bows and crossbows to deliver high amounts of damage to their enemies.

The Bowman’s main stat is Dexterity which provides him with very high accuracy. This will allow them to be the only class to hunt monsters that are a much higher level than themselves.

The Bowman character class gets a very unique skill which allows them to knock their enemies back which will allow the Bowman to stay at range and unleash his fury on them.

Bowman is a low populated class, meaning there are not many of them on most servers compared to other MapleStory character classes.

The downfall to a Bowman is that they take a while to train and level until you reach the 3rd Job Advancement.

As a Bowman, your damage will be very inconsistent while leveling until you get some of the higher end class skills.

While a Bowman is one of the most unique classes to play, their full potential will not be shown until they reach the higher levels in MapleStory.

Beginner > Archer > Hunter (with more job advancements)

Beginner > Archer > Crossbow Man (with more job advancements)

Casino Gambling and The Tao

It may seem strange to equate casino gambling with Taoist philosophy, but it may be because gambling is so much a part of and widely accepted in Chinese culture.

The very first recorded history of playing cards date back to 9th century China which makes sense being that they were the inventors of writing paper. The first book written with reference to playing cards dates to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) called Yezi Gexi. By the 11th century playing cards could be found throughout Asia featuring many of the 108 heroes of Lan Shun found in the Chinese classic the “Water Margin.”

In the 16th century playing cards had made their way to France and it is there that they began using the suits of picture cards that we are familiar with today based on figures of French nobility.

Taoist philosophy is said to be nearly 6,000 years old and came to prominence with the teachings of The Yellow Emperor, Huang Ti, the first emperor of China. With many of their scientific discoveries such as mathematics and astronomy, there was also a deep connection to astrology, symbology (a science of symbols and their effects), numerology and many forms of mysticism.

In the 7th Pillar of Taoism, “The Tao of Mastery,” The symbol for water is K’AN and states, “to be successful and fortunate, risk must be taken.” Luck to the ancient Taoists was a form of control and timing.

Clearly in all gambling, timing is an important factor. Regardless of the type of gambling, all of it’s forms tend to run in cycles, both winning and losing ones. It is the skill which one navigates through these cycles that the player conveys their level of control over the outcome.

The attraction is undeniable as an escape from tedious and purposeless occupations. Being confronted with the myth of success, when faced with insurmountable economic and social obstacles, makes the whole casino experience much easier to understand.

My own opinion is that people who gamble solely for the thrills and excitement, with no care of the economic results, would do better to find a more fulfilling and less expensive hobby. Gambling is an isolated activity. It will not take the place of a meaningful relationship nor will it counteract feelings of alienation or loneliness. These are not reasons to gamble.

Using any type of gambling to fill a void in ones personal life, something which it cannot do, is the type of gambling that can lead to devastating consequences.

If you’ve ever been in a casino, there is one thing you’ve probably noticed more than anything else… that one thing is seeing people lose money. This happens because the amateur gambler enters into this competition without a basic knowledge of the odds of the games, a playing strategy or even a thought to proper money management. Casino operators need to be alert to ATMs located on their casino floors to ensure signage on all their ATM terminals follows Regulation E and Network requirements. Let me begin by saying this is certainly not a full World of Warcraft guide on Paladins. There is no way you could cram everything this most versatile of classes is able to do in a few paragraphs. Paladins are a class of their own. They’re said to be hybrids of warriors, Priests and other DPS classes like Mages or Warlocks. By the way, DPS means Damage Per Second which means a class which give out lots of melee damage or close combat damage.

Even if they borrow these specialist traits from classes who are better recognized for having them, the Paladin’s use of them is so powerful that they are probably one of the most difficult classes in WoW to kill and get the better of in PvP (player versus player combat). As a warrior myself I tend to really steer away from them as they are the equivalent of fighting another equally well armoured warrior that not only can heal him or herself but can also cast spells. That is awesome power and imo quite unfair.

So Paladins specialize as tanks by having in one of their abilities tree called the “Protection Tree” spells and learned talents which enables them to both take and give enormous damage to and from several enemies at once. Special spells here include “Holy Shield”, “Retribution”, and “Consecration” which all add up to give the Paladin well sought after tanking abilities which for some raids and instances are far superior to that of any other class.

The second tree and not necessarily in order of importance is the “Retribution” tree which is where the Paladin draws abilities that enable them to give lots of DPS or melee/close combat damage to enemies that are being fought against. Here abilities like “Crusader Strike”, “Seal of Command” make the Paladin an especially useful class to include in raids.

The third ability tree of the Holy Warrior is their healing power. Their healing abilities are especially attuned to give heals to different players in the game. On top of this they can fight making them healing warriors. This makes them probably the most versatile class for group play where they can both take the role of the Priest as healer and tank as warrior. Perfect for either job or as back up.

So there you have it, whether you fancy yourself as a healing priest, or a tank raging warrior or a DPS expert like a Mage or Shaman, there is no need to start up one of these classes when a Paladin does all three things at once. Also, this is a class that in WoW is highly effective in groups and ideal for all the end game activities like raids and large instances where the services of paladins are highly rated.
